There have been several conversations amongst my friends where this question has been asked, usually in jest as a Zen riddle. It crops up when we play D&D, and it’s meant to illustrate the silliness of the system based on a previous campaign. As such it is almost always brought up when something [...]

I cast… Magic Missle!

via Gizmodo, I bring you this unearthed arcana:
Dungeons & Dragons Laptop
Only like $1300.  Not too bad.  Get it quick, though, as the run is limited to 100.

Worldwide D&D Game Day

I freakin’ kid you not.
Wizards of the Coast is sponsoring an offical Worldwide D&D Game Day.
Saturday, November 5th. No matter where you are, look at their list of participating stores and go check this out. I know I will.

Silly extra-dimensional spaces.

My gaming cohorts came to the realization recently that having the ability to hide in an extra-dimensional space can come in really, really handy. The rope trick spell is extremely useful.
One thing that tends to occur when utilizing or toying with extra-dimensional and non-dimensional spaces: debate over exactly how bad things can happen.
I [...]

I don’t even know what to say about this. It should be self-explanatory:
Dungeons & Dragons for Dummies

I ran across this comic strip while browsing through the vast darkness of the intarweb: The Order of the Stick.
I found this one particularly humorous… The Order of the Stick #3. I know that everyone and their mother has probably already read them, but it is new to me.

And Lo, Unto Thee I Bestow…

Dungeons & Dragons Online
A Massively-Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG).
I was looking through the information for this upcoming game and was impressed. If they can pull off everything they claim, this could be the Next Big Thing for us table-top gamers. I’m a graphics whore, so I never went in for Ultima Online or [...]

Mo’ Monte.

Looks like the usual gaming group might be playing another Monte Cook adventure after finishing up the Temple of Mysteries.
The Banewarrens
This time, with Jason at the helm.
Since it is a long adventure, we will probably play it episodically and mix in some other games with other players acting as Game Master. Should be fun, [...]

First night as DM

So, I had my first night as DM last night. And, it went a little better than I anticipated. Although, to be quite honest, I had thought I was going to do a horrible job.
I don’t have time to write about my experience right now, but Jason, has posted a summary of last [...]

DM for a Day.

Well, somehow, my usual gaming cohort has wrangled me into playing DM for a one-shot (a game that lasts only one session). Since I have never acted in this capacity, it should be quite an adventure.

During the Winter of 2002, I was interviewed for an article on the player’s perspective on D&D. Since I basically did the interview as a favor to my girlfriend at the time (she was taking a journalism writing class at Harvard), I have no idea what the publication details, if any exist, are.

Unfortunately, I am at work and cannot watch the videos with sound. But as soon as I do…

I wonder if the Heroes played some ball afterward? I mean, there is a hoop conveniently located on their battleground.

Looks like the Israeli Army (IDF) believes all soldiers who play D&D are insane:
“One of the tests we do, either by asking soldiers directly or through information provided us, is to ask whether they take part in the game,” he says. “If a soldier answers in the affirmative, he is sent to a professional [...]
