The iPhone SDK

Aside from the lack of shiny, new hardware displayed during the recent Jobs Keynote™, the most disappointing moment of the opening morning of WWDC (which stands for World Wide Developer’s Conference) had to be the announcement concernning 3rd party application development for the iPhone. Being an audience full of application developers, you could feel [...]

WWSJD @ WWDC

Ok, so it is about 2 hours or so until all those within the range of the RDF begin refreshing sites that liveblog Teh Steve during his keynote at WWDC.    Let’s hope the intartubes can hold up.
Of course, headlining the keynote is expected to be some talk of the iPhone with its release date just [...]

Gabe, in this Penny Arcade strip, reminds me of someone. I can’t quite place it, but I know it sounds really, really familiar.

You already know how much I like my invisibleSHIELD for my (now old) 5G iPod. Well, if you were clicking the order button as Steve was turning off the RDF, you might be happy to hear that ShieldZone is already taking pre-orders on shields for your new purchase. And, they will be available for purchase [...]

Praise Jee-zus… I Mean Apple…

Colin has accused me of becoming an Apple evangelist.
Since deciding to purchase my MacBook, I have convinced four others to go out and buy the little white notebooks, and another is thinking about it.
In less than a month, I have helped Apple sell several MacBooks, iPods, and various other items.
I’m no evangelist.  I am a [...]

Today… today was a good day. Or rather, it ended up as such.
Work was fine, nothing really special. My boss paid for lunch, which was awesome. Got a bunch of work done. Overall, it was a slightly better-than-average workday.
I got into my car at 5PM and started the engine. Cranked up the AC. Reached back [...]

Carl Has ‘Switched’

“Hi, I’m a Mac.”
“And I’m a PC.”
So begins Apple’s latest round of clever television advertisements. Surely you’ve seen them, and if not, you can easily find them, and the parodies of them, on sites like YouTube. So I won’t bore you with an explanation.
But if you watch the ads, and have listened to [...]

This is a short post.  A little information, a little reminder, and a little rant.
STOP criticizing Boot Camp.  People have started complaing that in some cases, installing Boot Camp and Windows XP works, but then people can no longer boot into OSX.
It’s a public beta.  Apparently people selectively ignore or otherwise choose to forget that [...]

Apple’s Sky is NOT Falling!

Okay, so Colin pointed me to an article over at Geek News Central, supposedly from a developer’s perspective. It’s a response to Boot Camp, the new Public Beta from Apple that will allow owners of the new Intel-based Macs to run Windows XP (and, possibly, Linux). She goes to great length to point [...]

Looks like Larry Hryb, a.k.a. Major Nelson, has decided his next laptop will be Apple’s MacBook Pro. Why would a sergeant an officer in the Microsoft Army state this publicly on his blog? Well, simple, he now has the option to run Windows XP on his MacBook Pro. In fact, Apple has [...]

Apple Announces New Products… Yawn.

Big deal.  An overpriced leather case for the iPod, a Bose-like dock for the iPod, and worst of all, they are no longer offer a sub-$500 computer. If you want the gory details, the Apple product pages are updated and the Apple Store is back up and running and eager to steal take your [...]

Another Apple Tuesday.

Well, here we sit with bated breath waiting to hear what His Holy One, Steve Jobs, announces this fine Tuesday morning (well, afternoon for us on the east-coast). The rumor-mill has been working overtime, but it seems most people expect the following:

Intel-based Mac mini. No iPod dock.
Special-edition iPod, possibly to support AIDS-awareness.
Full-length feature [...]

It began on MacRumors, with someone posting a link to a file that supposedly contained pictures of OSX Leopard (a.k.a 10.5). Some excited Apple fanatics eagerly downloaded the file to their computers and promptly went clicking away. “The Sky is falling!”
Well, the linked file was in fact an archive (latestpic.tgz). So, after [...]

New iPod

Well, not exactly a new iPod, but now the iPod nano comes in a 1GB capacity. This means that if you want to own one of these gorgeous little devices, you only have to shell out $150. In fact, I have already placed an order for one. But, shhh, keep it [...]

iPhoney

Hrm. Could that sim card just be a cut-up iTunes giftcard, or has Apple uncharacteristically created the ugliest phone ever?

MiniStore update.

Apple has caught a little flack for including the iTunes MiniStore in the latest update to iTunes. The MiniStore can be turned on or off easily enough, but it was silly of Apple to include this feature without explanation. In fact, the way it was introduced was almost surreptitious, thus had many people asking questions [...]

I still like my iMac G5

Apple Store Burlington

Massachusetts gets its 5th Apple retail store this Friday. The Burlington Apple Store opens its doors Friday at 10am.

10.4.3 released

Hopefully more treat than trick, Apple has released 10.4.3. Said to fix hundreds of bugs, the release installer is approximately 100MB in size.
The 10.4.3 Update delivers overall improved reliability and compatibility for Mac OS X v10.4 and is recommended for all users.
It includes fixes for:
- AFP, SMB/CIFS, NFS and FTP network file services
- AirPort [...]
