Not a beer review, but beer related.

I’m in between a number of things right now, so I haven’t had time to write up a beer review. I didn’t want to leave the masses hungry for beer related posts, so here is my recipe for Guinness White Wheat Bread if you care to give it a try.

Big Remy’s Guinness Bread

  • 2 cups unbleached all purpose flour (really, any white flour will do).
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour.
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar.
  • 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar.
  • 4 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional, I’ve made it with and without. If you leave it out, the bread just ends up tasting sweeter).
  • 1 can of Guinness.

Combine all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, add Guinness to it. Mix until all ingredients are combined. Bake at 350 F for 50-65 minutes in a greased loaf pan. Test with a tooth pick or knife to make sure its cooked all the way through. Tastes great with some butter on it, toasted, or with beef stew.

You know, its almost blasphemous, but the couple times I have had Guinness bread, I have not really cared for it. I had a Guinness chocolate cake once, tho, and it was great.

This bread is damn good. I get frequent request to bring it in at work for people.

    But to each his own.

I must say, this bread was delicious. Beware the moldy butter, however.

Oh let it go, we just scraped out the moldy part. The rest was fine.
