The Ugly Truth: This beer comes at the suggestion of my friend Dave, and gets me one step closer to completing the Beer Quest by being the first Milk Stout I’ve reviewed.  Left Hand Brewing Company has been sliding around the edges of my radar for awhile now.  I’ve known about them, but I never got around to having anything from them.  Turns out that may have been an error, since the Milk Stout was darn good.  Poured a deep amber/black in color depending on the light with a strong gray/brown head on it.  The aroma did a great job of conveying the creaminess that was waiting for me.  Good nose of hearty grains and roasted malt, with the coffee notes coming out lightly.  The taste is interesting if you’ve never had a milk stout before.  To me it tastes like you took a typical stout, and mixed it with cream.  Its that easy really.  Bitterness is very mild, which work very nicely for this beer.  The body was in the medium range, with a strong and creamy mouthfeel to it and loads of flavor.  Good hits of roasted malt, with a lingering finish that had a very nutty taste to it, almost a hazelnut flavor.  Overall, a very good beer that is definitely geared towards sitting and sipping.  Highly recommend giving it a shot.

Verdict: Throwing it an 8 out of 10 bottlecaps
