The Ugly Truth: I was feeling good about this review until I actually read the brewery description. I love Sam Adams, I think Jim Koch is a Boston hero for his brewery but I can’t agree with the description. Sam Adams Light is pretty much a lighter version of the Boston Lager. And sadly for this reason I’ll end comparing it to the Boston Lager for pretty much this whole review. Might be unfair, but so is life Jimmy boy. SA Light poured a light brown in color, roughly the same as the Boston Lager, with a frothy white head to it. Aroma isn’t very strong, but was similar to the Boston Lager with a decent nose of hops to it. The body is very light, so light that to me it takes away from the taste some. The taste is basically a toned down version of the Boston Lager, less hops bite and a greatly dimished aftertaste. The finish is smooth but I wouldn’t necessarily call it crisp. To me it just kind of ended, so it was clean. SA Light is missing some of the hearty robust flavor that I love about the Boston Lager. All this being said, it is hands down the best light beer on the market today, or at least that I’ve had. I will gladly drink SA Light over anything other light beer out there, so it gets a bonus point because of that.
Verdict: I’ll go with a 7 out of 10 bottlecaps on this one.

Trying to get caught up some since I missed 3 weeks.
I still say the aftertaste is shite, you’re generous with 7 bottlecaps. I’d rather order an Amstel Light over a Sam Light if I’m in the mood to watch my svelte figure (which I’m usually not).
Well, in all fairness I actually don’t even think about Amstel Light when I’m talking about light beers for some reason. At some point in the past I stopped considering it a light beer. I mean when the Light beer is your flagship beer it makes it hard to not throw it into the larger pool for me.
Gents, need I remind you? Guinness has about the same amount of calories by volume as most light beers, and less than some of them. So why are we even having this conversation?
Solely because Guinness is not classified as a light beer.
I just had an Sam Adams light last week.
I did not like it at all and do agree that 7 bottlecaps was generous.
It didn’t remind me of the larger (which I like) at all.
The taste reminds me of inferior light beers (Bud Light, Miller Lite, etc) and I think Sam Adams, by choosing this taste, is going after that market.
