The Ugly Truth: Just because its November now, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy an Oktoberfest. Sadly, I haven’t been enjoying as many as I would like. Here comes Saranac Octoberfest. Pours a copper amber in color, with a foamy white head on it. I found the aroma to be a bit heavy and somewhat on the spiced/flowery side. Taste was fairly mild with a medium to heavy body to it. I personally didn’t catch much malt flavor, and I found the bitterness of the hops to be very light. I suppose the balance of the two was in such harmony as to eliminate the taste of both. I’d rather have one be more eivdent than the other, or at least a different mix of hops and malts that may compliment each other better. I found the finish to be on the dry side, not a lot of noticable flavor to it. All in all, not a bad Oktoberfest but not the best on the market. Personally, I’ve always liked Sam Adams but I know there are many other fine ones out there. It seems like a brrewery reputation can live or die by their Oktoberfest. In conclusion, definitely worth trying but not my favorite on the market.

Verdcit: I’m going with a 7 out of 10.

Just trying to make up some lost time. Expect the beer reviews to be on a more floating schedule for now.
