The Ugly Truth: Buzzards Bay Brewery in Westport MA. I went to undergrad like 10 minutes from this place but sadly they actually didn’t start producing beer until I had graduated from UMass Dartmouth. By the way, if you’ve never been to that school, easily the ugliest campus on the face of the planet. An entire campus designed by a this guy named Paul Rudolph, and if you went to that school you soon learned to appreciate that the man was bat shit insane. Pressurized concrete does not make an attractive campus. I swear there were doors that went to no where, and there was rumored to be a pentagram carved into the floor of the room at the top of the radio tower. But I digress.

BB Pilsner was good stuff. I’m admittedly still trying to get a good handle on the world of pilsners, but I liked this one. Straw gold in color, foamy white head and a definite aroma of hops. The body I found to be light, with a good strong glavor and a clean finish. There was enjoyabe level of hops, and I was surprised because I honestly thought the IBU was higher than the claimed 41. There was some tangy citrus at the end, but it was pretty sublte and I personally don’t think it contributed hugely to the taste. It was a good pilsner, well suited to my tastes because of the hops so I recommend trying it out.

Verdict: I’ll go with 8 out of 10 bottlecaps of circling buzzards.
