I for one am still trying to figure out how people (cooks especially) claim that cooking with beer adds the sweetness of hops.

Molasses is sweet. You want to add sweetness, add molasses. Hops aren't sweet. Don't shit in my cornflakes and call it raisins. :-)

And it isn't that Remy and I disagree on a whole bunch of beers. I like to think of it as we share a portion of a scale. A Venn diagram if you will. With Oak Aged Yeti firmly in his circle, and Leigenkugel formly in mine, and Guinness in the middle.

Also, I wouldn't classify Guinness as bitter. Well, not anymore. I've had much more bitter beers, and would probably classify IPAs higher on the bitterness scale than most stouts not tapped directly from the resinous dick of a pine tree. But Guinness IS an acquired taste, beautiful brew that it is.

I don't. It was the "I think its great we have someone who likes bad beer doing beer reviews for us" that got me. I was merely pointing out how freaking wrong he is, and provided some back using the examples above.

Hrm, I think I liked it better when you didn't care what other people thought about the beers you were reviewing. :)

I decided to take the list of beers that I gave 10s to, and Carl claims are horrible beers to see what other sites thought of them. I went with Rate Beer, Beer Advocate, and sometimes one other site depending on what I can find.

Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout
RateBeer.com: 4.17/5.00, 100th percentile overall
BeerAdvocate: 4.31/5.00, 91st percentile overall
Opinionated Beer Page: 9/10

Skullsplitter
RB: 3.6/5.0, 91st percentile
BA: 4.0/5.0, Overall score of 88
Micheal Jackson has called it one of the 500 classic brews.

Guiness
No need to deal with this since we actually agree, though I must state for the record that Guinness is not bitter.

Arrogant Bastard
RB: 3.96/5.00, 98th percentile
BA: 4.23/5.00, Overall score of 90

And in comparison, Leinekugel's Sunset Wheat that I gave a rating of 3 to.
RB: 2.9/5.0, 41st percentile
BA: 3.4/5.0, 80th percentile (the exception of all places I looked)
Opinionated Beer Page: 3/10
Several blogs that have beer reviews compare it to drinking Fruity Pebbles.

So while I did rate those beers higher than those sites, we are in pretty close agreement as we are on a lot of the beers I've had. So sounds like I actually do for the most part like great beers, contrary to what may have been said.

A note on spiders/insects taken from

http://courses.washington.edu/insects/454Students/Resources/quotes.htm

Estimated ratio of insects to humans is 200 million to 1

This was in 1999. I have heard/read in other places that the insect population might be as high as 1,000,000 to 1.

Another note: I used to let spiders outside. I have a kid now. I am a spider assassin (as well performing Megadeth on all insectoids).

Yet-baiting aside, I remember looking at the list of things you thought had too much hops and thinking "christ, i hate ipas and overly-hoppy beer, but Carl is fucking nuts with this list". So yeah, I'm with Remy in the Didn't-even-register-Carl's-beer-complaints clan.

"Yeah, but it is well known amongst our circle of friends that your taste in beer is complete shit. You saying it doesn’t even really register anymore."

Well, if having good taste in beer means getting down on my knees and playing circus seal to a treant(1,2), then I'll stick with my shitty taste. :-)

As for lashing out t Karl, it was unfair of me to direct it primarily at him. The fact that I don't even listen to you concerning beer anymore and his comments were the first I heard to flip the "Asshole Remy" toggle switch his way.

Again, unfair and uncalled for so I do apologize to Karl for the way in which I said things.

However, I still don't get how you guys think those beers have too many hops in them. Its not a "I've got giant nuts because I can handle hops" thing, I honestly don't understand how that depth of flavor could be found less than enjoyable.

Also, KRF is cheap... except for admission, games, food, and drink...

So, except for everything. Oh, I forgot, I could watch the falconer and the joust for free... :-/

Of course, nowadays even going to see a movie is a wallet-fucking ordeal. $21 for tickets (two people), plus a soda or bottled water, plus a popcorn, and you're out like $35.

While KRF is somewhat expensive at $25 a pop, remember that once you get inside everything is free except for the food, beer and games. So its really not that bad. I went 6 times one year.

And if you guys are going to the faire to podcast I want a plane ticket because it just won't be right if I'm not there.

yeah, and Colin keeps pulling the Buddhist thing. Bad mojo and whatnot.

I tell you what. I eat cow. Spiders are far lower on the list of creatures I would have qualms elminating.

As a follow-up, less than a day after NBC went off to lick their wounds, they were totally seen in the company of that whore, Amazon Unbox. :)

Is it just me, or did Colin give that entire description of the 'triumphant return' and manage to never mention the actual name of the band? LOL
(listening again... dude, I do not hear the word 'freezepop' at all) >D

Oh, and another point on the iTunes thing - iTunes does indeed help sell iPods because Apple has found a price that the consumers are willing to pay. Plain and simple, if you don't give people the right price, they'll find their media through... umm... 'other means'. If NBC is so concerned with media players full of pirated content, look at generic Sansa devices or the like, not iPods, which actually encourage paying for content.

And to add to your spider stories...
