The Ugly Truth: “Oh my god! Its an India Pale Ale! Its got hops in it! Oh the unmerciful slaughter of my taste buds. Where is my bland, tasteless beer? Someone bring me my bottle of Blue Moon Belgian White.” For some reason, given recent conversation, this popped into my head when drinking this beer.

Fuggles IPA pours a nice copper color with a strong white head to it. Good deal of carbonation coming to the surface after the pour. The aroma wasn’t really strong, but what was there was clean and dry smelling. The beer itself had a light body and was easily drinkable for an IPA. The taste was relatively mild, with a taste of hops only coming through really at the end as it went into the finish. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, since it makes Fuggles the perfect IPA for someone who doesn’t really like hops all that much but still wants some IPA flavor. I honestly didn’t really catch the foral aroma or the apple plum palate really, but there was some tangy flavors at the end that might have been it. On occassion, you would get this long lasting, resinous aftertaste that reminded you that there were, in fact, hops in this beer. In the overall, while certainly not the strongest IPA I’ve ever had it was a good beer. Easily drinkable, light on the palate and with a decent hops flavor make Fuggles IPA a good choice for a beer to just sit around and drink with friends.

Verdict: F-u-g-g-l-e-s. Seven letters, 7 out of 10 bottlecaps.
