I haven't seen the movie yet, but the scene where it happens and how Fleming describes it is fairly gruesome and dramatic.

Reason: It's a movie and this was more dramatic. ;P

Regardless of it being true to the book or not... a lot of unnecessary posturing when a good, swift kick to the balls would have sufficed.

The torture scene from Casino Royale movie is almost the same as it was in the book. In the book they had in the chair and they used a stiff bamboo (I think) pole that they bent down and let go to slap against his testicles.

And Atilla, your bowels concern us all.

How significant is lactase?
Thanks for the generous reference to my bowels in context of a regale. Lactose intolerance is common in people of Turkish origin, as well as far eastern people and native Americans. In this construct, it forms yet another evidence to the genetic link between Turks, who migrated from Central Asia, and the people of far east, and those who trotted over the frozen Bering on a sunny day of an unknown calendar.
