Carl: Oh god, I'm no expert. Let's just say I'm 'immersed'.
No... let's don't say that.. or it will end up a bad bad joke...
But, anyway, I'm no expert.

Remy: Probably the most popular mainstream beers (lagers, mostly) are Victoria Bitter (or "VB", pretty much the Budweiser of Oz), Toohey's New, XXXX (fourex), Cooper's Pale Ale and Cascade Premium. For dark stouts, the go is most often still Guinness, but there's also Southwark Old Stout, Swan Stout and Cascade Special Stout. You should also see if you can get a bottle of Piss or Piss Weak just for fun. heh I only lived there for about 3 years, so I'm no expert (plus, I'm a Guinness girl. But I'll drink a Toohey's on a hot day). I figured it might be a fun excursion for you to try to find some "gud ahld awzee beeahs".

Thanks for the detail on Hubble, Maggie. It's nice to have some expert scientific opinion here that isn't tainted by the old rivalries. :)

More science! Yay! (Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the podcast for more than the science. I just don't get as excited about games and such.)

Just a couple of notes on Hubble. The camera package in question has 3 'channels' and 2 are gone, presumably for good. But the Solar Blind channel is still operational. Other instruments including the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 and the Near Infrared Camera Multi-object Spectrograph are also still fully operational.

And I'd like to add to Carl's Vista rant. In particular the license server for volume license users. Why in the f&*%#% should I have to bring up, support and maintain a server just so people can have a f#%@&$% operating system, the most basic software component of a computer, on their desktop??? And... do I get the license for that server for free? I mean, I'm effectively being the license police for Microsoft... why should I have to pay for their paranoia?
(answer: I shouldn't and I'm not. Like Carl, I've informed my Windows user base that Vista ain't on its way any time soon. And I'm certainly not replacing/upgrading brand new machines for 'features' none of these 'business' people need. And anyone who wants to switch to a Mac needs only ask.)

PS - Clean install for vista upgrade edition? Doable. ;)

PPS - Remy, what Australian beers have you tried?

Yes - I've got a heck of a memory for webcomics. Now when's my anniversary again?
