Greetings all, Big Remy here with some beer related events that I was made aware of by the people at Magic Hat Brewing Company.

First is the Magic Hat Mardi Gras Weekend (Feb 16th-18th): A festival with music, food and parades (and of course I’m sure lots of beer) in Burlington VT. From the description on the website (which is fairly long so I’m not doing a cut and paste to here) it looks like it is a lot of fun. I would definitely think about checking it out.

Second is the Magic Hat Solid Gold contest. It is a contest where Magic Hat seeks out the best “on hold” message out there, composed by you the consumer. I think our own Karl Kornfeld should throw something in there to represent Boston Geek. Here’s the lowdown:

“The 2007 On-Hold Solid Gold contest seeks something intriguing to play when people call our brewery and are placed in the telecommunicational purgatory we call “hold.” A recording of some sort with which we might entertain our captive audience. A soundtrack of aural impulses and/or unusual utterances to amuse a waiting public.

It could be anything! Music! Sound Effects! Poetry! Performance! All of the above! Let there be no preconceived notions except one: set your wildest aural exclamation to digital media and send it in. If it’s the one, you’ll win a $1000 Shopping Spree at Small Dog Electronics, our favorite online store for computers, mp3 players and electronic gadgetry. If I had the technical know-how, I would try to throw something in but my skill with music and electronics is about as profound as Carl’s knowledge of science. That’s all for now.
