Brewery Description: Oh Christ ” Ooit geboren als “Christoffel Bier” was dit het eerste bier dat door Bierbrouwerij St. Christoffel werd gebrouwen. Na het verschijnen van Christoffel Robertus is dit bier hernoemd en heeft het de naam Blond meegekregen, verwijzend naar de kleur van het bier. Blond is een ondergistend bier met 6% alc.vol. Blond heeft een volle smaak, een uitgebalanceerd karakter en prachtige bitterheid door toevoeging van een royale hoeveelheid hop tijdens het brouwen. De primaire geur is fruitig en het bier heeft een frisse smaak met een prettige, hoppige afdronk.”

The aroma is fruity and Blond has a fresh taste with a pleasant, hoppy finish.”

Brew Style: Pilsner, 6.0% ABV

Recommended Glassware: Flute, Footed Pilsner

The Ugly Truth: Man, this beer may as well be called “The Beer with Two Lives”. Christoffel Blond starts off with a nice thick white head on it and pours a deep cloudy gold color. It has a nice strong hoppy smell to it that holds a lot of promise. In retrospect, I should have let this beer breathe a bit in the glass before I started drinking it. If you drink it right after the pour like I did, it is insanely bitter tasting. I’m not talking strong, I’m talking it made my tongue felt like it was on fire and swollen. I decided to let it sit a little bit to see what would happen. After a few minutes, it smoothed out and was very enjoyable. Taste is full and very flavorful, with some of the bitterness still there but mostly in the aftertaste. It is definitely one of the better Pilsners I’ve had, as its a bit heavier than the average pilsner. I recommend people trying it.

Verdict: Lo, for this beer has been saved from the pits of bottlecap Doom by the Breathe of the Almighty, so now it receives an 7 out of 10 bottlecaps.
