On this belatedly posted episode (rest assured Colin will be beaten senseless for it), we discuss Cyber Jihad, an ancient computer, and the possibility that Sony might be abandoning future console development. After another exciting (and apprently finger-licking good) episode of Greg Howley’s GameGeek Challenge, we launch into Boston in Brief, where we discuss the Bazaar Bizarre and a Candyland Tournament at Faneuil Hall.
Any comments or suggestions?

To say that the original XBox was far better than the PS2, online service aside, is absolute ignorance and lack of perspective. I know that I don’t have the most objective view and can admit that there were games on the XBox better than the PS2, but to make that statement during the podcast just lowers your already in the bottom of the barrell credibility concerning consoles. The two consoles were so different. Colin is right, the XBox was a computer shoved into a console case, and the graphics were not better across the board. I think it was Morrowind: The Elder Scrolls RPG for XBox, the graphics on that things were horrible compared to RPGs on the PS2.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the Xbox a lot. But, it was just a computer in case with a slightly modified OS. The PS2 was a great console, although I don’t think itcan claim superiority across the board. Each did its own thing well. I think the same can be said for this generation and the PS3 and Xbox 360. Neither of them can claim they are better across the board. In the end, it will come down to who offers the most compelling services, content, and product.
Dreamcast RULZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4-EVA!!!

I think the PS2 was superior. Not in terms of hardware, but primarily because Sony was able to license better game titles. Better available games means a better console. I do agree that PS2’s online component sucked, but since the only games I ever play online are Starcraft, Mario Kart DS, and Dungeon Keeper, I don’t really care.
PS2 had Shadows of the Colossus, Resident Evil, God of War, and Indigo Prophecy. What did XBox have? Halo? Jade Empire?
I tried Halo on the PC and didn’t like it. Jade Empire will be out on PC soon and I’ll give that a shot. I have no interest in the XBox. But I’m still playing and replaying PS2 games.
Greg is my new best friend. Screw the rest of you.
Hey, as I have stated many, many times. Its all about the games you enjoy playing. Not as much with the current gen as exclusive deals are few and far between. So, it is nowmore about the services and content offered by the console. We shall see who wins on that front.
I chose the Xbox (over the PS2) because I was willing to give something new a shot. And, I liked the prospect of the online service. For the games I enjoy playing, the console (whether it was a PS2 or an Xbox) didn’t make much of a difference (although, the graphics on the games I played were slightly better on the Xbox than on the PS2).
Currently, I own consoles from Sony, Micrrosoft, and Nintendo. I have no brand loyalty. I buy what I think I will get the most enjoyment from. Anything else is just plain silly, imo.
Oi! Who edited my super-leet comment?!
Wankers…
Do you feel shortchanged by the number of exclamation points?
Apparently, by trimming the number of exclamations in his post down to 96, you’ve insulted his manhood.
I have a GameCube…. I like the Wizard of Oz…. I like the Tin Man…
Seriously, my daughter could wipe the board at a Candyland Tournament. She whips me every time, and I stopped letting her win, even.
