The Ugly Truth: Kapunziner Schwarz is a decent dark wheat beer. It poured a heavy black color with a pretty strong tan head to it. I didn’t really catch any kind of strong aroma off the beer, but at least it didn’t smell bad. I found the body to be somewhere between medium and heavy, leaning more towards medium. The taste was pretty smooth, with a little bit of bite at the end. There seemed almost to be a kind of roasted taste to it, but then sometimes it would taste sour as well. I found the overall experience to be somewhat inconsistent, as sometimes it tasted one way and sometimes another depending on how much I drank in. This was a good beer, and I recommend giving it a try but I’m not in love with it or anything. I think there are better dunkelweizens out there for people to try like the James Madison Dark Wheat that comes in the Brewer Patriot pack from Sam Adams.
Verdict: Ummm…some joke about Schwarz and then it gets a 6 out of 10 bottlecaps.
