Thanks for mentioning SG Boston! Just to clarify, we're down with playing D&D too, and will probably run it some time in the next few weeks. We're just crazy diverse. You're all welcome to come down some time for a hardcore, no-holds-barred battle of "Once Upon a Time".

Okay, okay -- I admit it, I am not being very constructive. Sorry.

The Bullet Cluster was the best Science! story of the year to date, IMHO. It was a combination of great observational technique, a great idea, and an important result, all wrapped up into a story where the science involved was easily explained to a lay-person like myself. Why don't you talk about that?

We are always open to story suggestions. So, if you have anything you think worthy of your ears with regards to the top science story (or, any story for that matter) you can send an email to colin@bostongeek.com or carl@bostongeek.com
Thanks! :)

Carl wrote that "new evidence shows the universe might be egg-shaped". Egg-shaped? Not really.

If you're going to do a science story, can it please be a good science story? Thanks! :)

RE: The Echo Chamber...

We had three mics running in close proximity. I noticed the problem as well.

RE: The Hiccup Story

I didn't get it wrong. I just hadn't indicated what caused the man's hiccups. Also, Rem, we could have talked about the discovery of planets that orbit their suns in less than 24 hours, or how new evidence shows the universe might be egg-shaped, or how scientists are taking an inventory of black holes in the region, or even about the Nobel Prizes... but where's the fun in that? :)

And seriously, the rectal hiccup thing was a pretty sad display for a "top science story". If you guys don't plan on finding things better than that I would seriously drop that part of the show.

Every time I hear the new music, I want to go dig out my old jean jacket with the Iron Maiden "Live After Death" full-back patch. And I mean that in the highest complimentary way.

I've always heard great things about N-Track, so it's disappointing to hear that 5.0 is buggy. Hopefully it'll work itself out, as N-Track has always been highly regarded by those of us who can't afford Pro Tools, Sonar, Nuendo, etc. I recently tried out Reaper in a pinch, which is also shareware ($39.95) since I couldn't find my Cubase LE disc. I loaded Reaper onto an older PIIIm laptop and used it with my 4-input Firebox and it worked wonderfully tracking drums and piano. Karl - No MIDI capabilities that I'm aware of, but for straight audio I'd definitely check it out.
