My understanding from various sources is that Disney's support for the Nazis was pre-war. The evidence for this is, admittedly, circumstancial, having come from one of his employees.

Here is a good article on the topic:

http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mdisneyfascist.html

It is worth noting that both Disney's and Ford's support, in whatever form it took, was pre-WWII.

It's also interesting to note that Hitler's 'Final Solution' was inspired and initially modelled on the eugenics projects created here in the United States.

"It's like licking a jellyfish" is a simile.
"I was licking a freaking jellyfish when I drank that beer" is a metaphor.

The evidence is sketchy at best, though some places such as Jinx Magazine have some really funny articles about that I personally find really hard to believe.

Having a higher ABV definately does not make a beer better. I've had some high ABV beers that taste like hell. I think in this case it was merely something that may have been a contributing factor to the horrible taste.

No, I hear that, I cook with beer, wine, tequila, etc all the time. I just mean that sometimes it seems like high ABV is used to excuse a crappy beer. Sort of "yeah it tastes like catpiss, but it's 11% alcohol!" Like I said, there are tastier ways to get drunk if that's all thats important. I can't help but wonder if the brewers of Horny Devil decided to add spirits and call it "Belgian style" _after_ they tasted it.

On the other hand, there are numerous flavorful compounds that are only alcohol-soluble. This is why sauces prepared with wine, cognac, or other alcoholic beverages often have flavors not imparted by the beverage itself.

Perhaps there is something to be said for a beer where the hops, the barley, and the barrel have been exposed to higher alocholic content?

I'm not a big fan of the high-ABV brews, myself. I'd rather hit the wine or mead at that point. But I'm willing to give high-ABV the benefit of the doubt.

I loved Remy's review of Horny Devil. Comparing a beer to UTI is classic!

Does anyone who's not a college freshman really think high ABV makes a beer good? Guiness is only 3.5 ABV and it's one of the greatest libations ever. There are plenty of ways to get hammered quickly if that's what you're trying to do.
