Brewery: Baltika Breweries, St. Petersburg, Russia
Brewery Description: A lager beer produced from select pale malt and a mixture of the best varieties of hops. The alcohol content of No7 Export is slightly higher than in classic lager beers. This beer has a mild and clean aroma with balanced flavor. The hops tones are less pronounced than in Baltika No3.
Brew Style: Pale lager/Dortmunder, 5.4% ABV
Recommended Glass: Dimpled mug, English pint, Lager glass, Shaker, Stein
The Ugly Truth: I would not be surprised to learn that this beer was responsible for the October Revolution of 1917. I could quite easily see the masses rising up to protest this beer. Baltika 7 doesn’t really taste bad, but then that’s the problem. It doesn’t taste like anything. The best description I can give is that this is the Russian equivalent of Budweiser. It is Russian yellow water. It was flat, had no bitterness, no bite and just didn’t taste like anything. I recommend not bothering to drink this one from Baltika, its just not worth the price of production.
Verdict: It would be well for your government to consider that having your beers and ours, your breweries and ours, in such proximity and deserving 4 out of 10 bottlecaps… is inherently DANGEROUS. Wars have begun that way, Mr. Ambassador.
