The Ugly Truth: Murphy’s Red Beer, previously known as Murphy’s Irish Red, is a timeless classic. While this is technically a Brew of the Masses, it is also definately one of my Brews of Choice. Murphy’s Red is just a damn good tasty beer, with a good body to it and a fantastic finish. The color is a warm red that just invites you to drink it, and the smooth taste of it makes you want to drink lots of it. The aroma is full and induces a Pavlovian response in most beer drinkers that makes you just start craving it. Maybe there’s some crack mixed into the formula, who knows? This is one of the few beers out there that is a perfectly acceptable substitute for water without tasting like water. I’m sure it’s something that most people who read this will have had before, but it’s always good to come back and revisit beers like Murphy’s Red. So for old times sake, go grab a six pack and remember what a red is truly supposed to taste like.

Verdict: it’s just a great beer and deserves a 9 out of 10.
