I’m a Liberal, I admit it. A Libertarian, really, which some socially democratic tendencies. As such, to say that I am against pretty much 100% of what Bush and the Republican-controlled Houses are doing at any given moment would be a gross understatment.
That being said, it takes an ignorant fool with his head buried in the sand not to be chilled to his core by this…
Quotes by George W. Bush:
- I don’t see how you can lead this country to succeed in Iraq if you say wrong war, wrong time, wrong place. What message does that send our troops? What message does that send to our allies? What message does that send the Iraqis?
- Senator Kerry assures us that he’s the one to win a war he calls a mistake, an error, and a diversion. But you can’t win a war if you don’t believe in fighting.
- America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof, the smoking gun that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud.
- You know, if that’s what they (Democrats) believe, if people in the party believe that, then they ought to stand up and say it. They ought to stand up and say the tools we’re using to protect the American people shouldn’t be used. They ought to take their message to the people and say, ‘Vote for me, I promise we’re not going to have a terrorist surveillance program.’
And now the following quote:
- Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.
Can you name the historical figure who said this? If you said Hermann Goering, Nazi Reich Marshal, you’d be correct.
Actually, I would argue it takes an ignorant fool to actually be chilled to the core by this. Being chilled to the core would mean this person is obviously unaware of what is going on and what has gone on in the world around him/her. Being chilled to the core means he/she might want to take his/her head out of the sand.
Ah yes, infinite wisdom from Colin, whose response to everything is derision.
I’m aware of the concept of history repeating itself. I have no doubt Ceaser used similar arguments 1,900 years ago.
But you know, I found it chilling, interesting, and angering. It was interesting to me.
What is it with you and trolling?
Yeah Colin, trolling is Carl’s job.
Hrm, so you call me an ignorant fool with his head in the sand for not being chilled to my core, and I get called out for trolling and being derisive? You aren’t actually being serious, are you?
Maybe next time you should try making your observations without the snide remarks about everyone who doesn’t share your point-of-view.
Are you high? Where did I say you were an ignorant fool?
Oh, I see, you’ve created the link by association. I say it takes a fool not to e chilled, you aren’t chilled, hence I must be calling you a fool… That’s still putting words in my mouth.
You pulled yourself through that bit of logical exercise for… what, exactly? It’s called an editorial (or in my case, a rant) for a reason. It’s the expression of the author’s opinion. There are proper and conducive ways to state a rebuttal, and then there is your response. You could have even been as sensationalistic about it as you were, and yet frame a cohesive argument that expressed an opinion worthy of the effort. You didn’t.
You’ve been weird all week, man. Maybe you should cut back on the caffeine, or something.
If only I were, then there might be the illusion that you are actually making sense.
Anyway, I guess I misunderstood. I thought by writing that anyone who isn’t chilled to their core are ignorant fools, I thought you meant that anyone who isn’t chilled to their core were ignorant fools. I feel so silly.
It’s cool you feel a special way about this, and it’s cool you decided to rant about it. But, don’t pretend that you didn’t expect/desire a response by calling everyone who doesn’t agree an ignorant fool. I think we are a little smarter than that (even if you obviously don’t).
If that is considered a logical exercise, you must be out of shape.
As far as my cohesive arguments… what am I arguing? What is being debated? I am a bit lost.
Yeah, your both reatards
Nah, this time it’s pretty much just Carl.
Maybe if Carl wants to continue to be able to post his rants without fear of the oppressive commentary, we can rig the geek so anything flagged carl+rant doesn’t make the front page?
Heh, that might actually be worth looking into.
