Brewery: Heineken USA, Located In More Places Than I Can Name.

Brewery Description: “Heineken Premium Light Lager combines a light taste with subtle flavor cues of regular Heineken”

Brew Style: Pale lager, no ABV listed

Recommended Glass: Dimpled mug, English pint, Lager, Shaker, Stein

The Ugly Truth: The ugly truth this time is in fact, not ugly. I was a bit skeptical at first on this beer, but it was sent to me by some very kind people who will forever remain dear in my heart. I am normally not a huge fan of Light beers, typically lumping them all in the category of yellow water. However, in recent years the trend to want to make low calorie, good tasting light beers has emerged. After just drinking one of these, I’m ready to say that this is probably one of the best ones I’ve had. It tastes very, very much like normal Heineken. The only place I found it to differ was in the finish, which almost seemed to be a little weaker than its big brother but was still enjoyable. Of course its all relative, since I’m normally a stout man so I’m used to stronger finishes. In the overall, if the brewers at Heineken were aiming for making a light beer that tasted like the original, I would have to say they definately hit the mark. I recommend picking this up and giving it a try if you’re looking for a light beer to drink.

Verdict: A solid 7 out of 10.

I shall be popping the top on a bottle of Heineken Premium LIght (with a mighty fine bottle opener) during this upcoming podcast. I will let you know what I think of it.
