I may pick-up the Book of Roguish Luck from the Monte Cook website today (as a downloadable PDF). My current campaign only allows the 3 core rule books plus Psionics, but it might be interesting to incorporate into a future campaign. After giving it a read-thru, I may post my thoughts about it here.
So, I’m guessing that you’re enjoying playing a Rogue then?
Well, I certainly see the “fun potential” of playing a Rogue. Being an extreme n00b, I know there are roguish things that I am not taking advantage of, etc. but, I like the idea of wreaking havoc, stealth, trickery, etc.
I can bring my copy of the PDF to the next gaming session if you want to take a look at it.
Ooh, ooh, I wanna see, too!
On first glance, it seems neat. But this is only my first impression after a brief skimming, I really won’t know until I roll up a Gutter Mage and play ‘em in a campaign.
I am a bit leery of the Luck system. It just seems as though (again without actually having playtested) it is unnecessary. I suppose it could add another dimension to the game, so who knows. But otherwise, I think the book is worth the $9 (downloadable watermarked PDF).
A bit of a tangent, but the nice thing about having the PDF (when its not a simple image scan) is that the content should be indexed by Spotlight (OSX Tiger) making it easy to reference when I have my PowerBook at the gaming table.
