Well, snail mail hasn’t been renered totally obsolete just yet. And, for those times you have to search the house for an envelope and scavenge the junk drawers for stamps wouldn’t you want something a little different than an American Flag or whatever else might be on USPS stamps at the time? Thats where Picture It Postage for Mac OSX 10.4 comes in handy (it uses CoreImage, so don’t even think about using it on previous version of OSX).
With this software, you can create your own custom postage stamps using photos on your computer. Apparently, it takes about two weeks to receive your stamp order, and I have yet to try it. But, if you are looking to send Thank You cards after getting married, why not use stamps that have a photo of the happy couple. Want to send a Birth Announcement, throw a photo of the little wrinkly baby on the stamp. Seems like a neat bit of software. Now I just need to think of a reason that I can use it for!
Ideas for postage stamps:
1. A 20-sided die to invite friends to D&D gatherings.
2. A picture of your ex in compromising position and/or state of undress as revenge.
3. Your modded computer case.
4. Vacation pictures.
I like custom postage so much I created a little site about it. Not just for macs either. If you’re not getting married or announcing a baby, how about a dog or cat on the stamp? That’s quite a popular use…. some of them are hilarious.
