Update 3: I just got the email from my current registrar stating that if I don’t repsond to them by April 1st, then the transfer of the domain to the new host will occur. It doesn’t, however, state how quickly after April 1st this will occur.
Update 2: Well, since the process is under way, and I have no idea when it will be completed, I have no choice but to take a DB snapshot now. This means that any comments made from here on out won’t appear on the site when it moves to the new host. This won’t however, stop me from posting any new articles, as I will keep a local copy of any article I write on my PowerBook and manually import it after the move.
Update: Ok, I I have requested the registrar lock be removed from the domain. This should be completed within 24hrs, and then I can have the registration transfered to my new host. So far, so good.
Ok, so I have decided to move the site to a different host. There are several reasons for it. But, mainly it is due to the fact that multiple times last week the site was inaccessible for periods of time and I need to find a host that is a little more reliable.
The process of transferring registration may take a little while, and the site may be inaccessible for a bit. This will (hopefully) occur later in the week and (again, hopefully) will be quite painless.
Oddly, I never had a singly problem loading the ‘geek. Hope the move goes well.
It was sporatic, so it doesn’t suprise me… but, when it had problems, they were very noticeable (usually involving DB errors).
Ah, old hosting service had a lock on the domain, huh? Bummer.
Yea, the lock was meant to be for my benefit.
Pesky domain name hijackers, making things difficult for us.
Christ, April 1? Are they serious?
