Rumor has it that OSX 10.4 has been declared Gold Master today. This means that there is a decent chance Apple will make a formal announcement with regards to Tiger launch plans tomorrow.
I am so giddy.
The Sox have finally parted ways with Kim.
Ouch, thats an expensive blemish on Theo Epstein’s record.
Ok, since I now have some more information concerning the moving of the site to the new host, I can actually continue to post to the site without fear of losing any of the content. It looks like the earliest the site will move is April 2nd. So, I can do another DB [...]
Since the site could move to its new host at a moments notice and I could lose anything saved in the database after I took the last snapshot, I thought I would create a post where I would just post some thoughts that came and went… sorta the same way it will come and go [...]
Update 3: I just got the email from my current registrar stating that if I don’t repsond to them by April 1st, then the transfer of the domain to the new host will occur. It doesn’t, however, state how quickly after April 1st this will occur.
Update 2: Well, since the process is [...]
Holy cow… look at this!

What makes me drool even more than I normally would, is the fact that Jillian’s in Boston doesn’t have a video arcade anymore.

We all remember the days when video games came on cartridges and the characters were little sprites. Well, most of us thirty and older do. Before the full motion video days of Night Trap and the polygon renderings of Cybermorph on the Atari Jaguar, little Mario (Super Mario Bros), Simon (Castlevania), and Ryu [...]
Let me start off by stating that I own both a Windows XP computer and an OSX computer. To me, they are both tools that perform their functions well. I am not an Apple fanboy who loathes the evil empire that is Microsoft (as I know full well that the real evil empire [...]
Update 2: I caved and bought HBMS tix. I have so little willpower.
Update: I just snagged some tickets for the Dresden Dolls show at the Paradise. Now, I have to contemplate if I want to spend the money on the Handsome Boy Modeling School show. The decision is made [...]
Warfish is, in a nutshell, a darn good implementation of an online Risk-style strategy game. The presentation is simplistic, which allows you to concentrate on conquering the planet and not get distracted by fancy graphics and sounds.
I really do feel a need to rant about this particular piece of engineering.
The 2005 Lexus RX boasts something called the Adaptive Front Lighting System. The basic premise is that the headlights pivot as you turn, illuminating the road as your tires encounter it, not after. Lexus makes it sound like a marvelous [...]
Looks like the Red Sox owners have finally made a public commitment to staying at Fenway. This means that we should be able to celebrate Fenway’s 100th anniversary in just a few short years.
Using a carefully adjusted photo, one can create the illusion that your computer has a transparent desktop. A neat effect, and some of the photos in the gallery are quite amazing.

Update: It looks like Amazon has quickly deleted all the funny reviews, rather than just fixing/removing the erroneous item. It’s a shame if you didn’t get a chance to read some of them. But, the reviews are coming back… make sure [...]
Well, ok, the statement that MGM wants to outlaw Silly Putty may be a bit sensationalistic… I guess I learned that from reading Carl’s rants.
But, the EFF has been posting examples of everyday items that fall under the protection of the Betamax test (which is threatened by MGM v. Grokster). Today’s item happens [...]
During the Winter of 2002, I was interviewed for an article on the player’s perspective on D&D. Since I basically did the interview as a favor to my girlfriend at the time (she was taking a journalism writing class at Harvard), I have no idea what the publication details, if any exist, are.
… the way Newton would have wanted.
In its latest PowerBook line-up, Apple has included a feature that allows the computer to detect motion. Specifically, it is meant to detect when it is being dropped and take certain precautions so as to minimize the chances of losing vital data (IBM has done something similar with [...]
The Dresden Dolls, a self-described punk/cabaret band from Boston (of course), has made its first trip to the city that inspired its name. There is a nice article in the Boston Phoenix about it. Unfortunately, the band will be embarking on a tour with the NIN, which means that it will be near [...]
Okay, a while back I wrote a quick-and-dirty about how I put together a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) using wits, brawn, and a copy of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. To my amazement, people actually read it!
Since Colin rebuilt the ‘Geek, he’s been badgering me to come back and let my creative juices [...]
