Not in my backyard! (UPDATED)

EDIT: Looks like the right decision was made. Glad to see that I wasn’t the only one who thought the JeterCenter was obscene and vulgar. :)

Original article follows:
This cannot be allowed. The folks over at the FleetCenter cannot possibly be entertaining the thought of allowing the building that serves as the home of the Boston Celtics, the home of the Boston Bruins, and the replacement to the beloved Boston Gahhden to be temporarily named the … gasp … JeterCenter.

Not long after the acquisition of Fleet Bank by Bank of America, the FleetCenter has been auctioning off one-day namings rights to the bulding on eBay. Previously it has been, for example, won by a man from California who named it for his wife as a Valentine’s Day gift. How sweet. But, naming it after Derek Jeter – the face of the Yankees, would be nothing less than pure evil. I guess it isn’t too surprising that this act of evil is the brainchild of a Lawyer from Manhattan. He probably also endulges in the weekend animal sacrifice, and the occasional cannibalism.

So, I plead… nay… I demand that this not be allowed. And, if this name were allowed, there is no way I will be stepping one foot into that building until it were exorcised of the evil and every inch were doused in holy water.
